Domaine La Blaque
Domaine La Blaque
Domaine La Blaque is located in the AOC of Pierrevert, in western Provence. In 1987, Mr. Pampus acquired the estate, with its 50 hectares of vineyards, along with the neighboring bastide of Châteauneuf. In the years that followed, a new cellar was built, and the vineyard surface area was expanded to 62 hectares. The classic Mediterranean grape varieties are grown here; grenache blanc & rouge, syrah, carignan, cinsault, rolle, viognier and roussanne. The management of the estate is currently under the direction of oenologist Gilles Delsuc, who along with his wife Laurence, (also an oenologist) dedicate their efforts towards continually improving the quality of the vineyard and its wines. All of the vineyards at Domaine La Blaque are farmed using organic practices, and are certified as such.
"La Blaque is an exceptional terroir," says Gilles Delsuc. The microclimate, the soil diversity and the orientation of the vineyard are optimal. Here the sun shines almost 320 days a year, and the extreme variations between day and night (due to altitude 450-500m above sea level) are very favorable to the maturity of the grape. This context makes it possible to begin the harvest at the end of September, which is rather rare in the south of France. The soils here are of a clay-limestone nature, which provide excellent conditions for Mediterranean viticulture".
