Aline Beauné
Aline Beauné
Aline Beauné is a winemaker to watch. More and more people are looking outside the main Côte of Burgundy for wines that mortals can afford, and this attention is drawing talent out of these regions. Aline has been making wine at the top tier in Santenay for over a decade, but all the while her parents have been renting out a familial plot in Montagny. In 2018, the contract with the previous tenants on 5 HA of prime vineyard land expired. Aline jumped at the opportunity to take over these vines and start her own domaine. The previous tenants were farming responsibly, but Aline felt the land had more to offer. She is transitioning to organic farming and already using some biodynamic treatments to ease this transition for the vines. The wines in 2018 are shimmering and gorgeous - and she is just getting started.
Aline Beauné Bourgogne Aligoté
Vines located just below the Bourgogne Blanc vines. Slightly heavier soils (more clay) lends a bit of flesh to the typically lean Aligoté fruit. Elevage in nuetral cask rounds everything out and melds it all together.
Aline Beauné Bourgogne Blanc
30 year old vines on an East facing hillside. The soils are clay limestone. The wine is made 100% in tank. Fresh, bright and lively.
Aline Beauné Montagny Villages
From two plots in Montagny, one North facing at the upper reaches of the appellation with marl soils and the other Northeast facing at the lower reaches with clay limestone soils. The first site brings tension and minerality, the second brings texture and fruit. The blend is a beautiful version of Chardonnay.
Aline Beauné ‘Chazelle’ Montagny 1er Cru
Prime mid-slope site with 40 year old vines planted from selection massale. The soils are clay limestone, falling just below where the marl starts on the hill. East facing. A blend of tank, cask and new barrel adds to the complexity of this gorgeous wine.
